Changing the "cn=Directory Manager" password after installation

Purpose: How to change the "cn=Directory Manager" password after installation

Procedure: You can change the password for "cn=Directory Manager" *after* installation. The steps to do this are given below:

1. Navigate to the Main Control Panel -> Settings Tab -> Administration section -> in the Directory Manager Settings sub-section -> click on the “Change the password” link below the "User name" field.

2. This will open the "Change Password" window.

3. Enter the new password value in the "Password" and "Confirm Password" fields, and click on the "Save" button in the Change Password window.

4. Click on the "Save" button in the top right corner to apply the changes to the server.

IMPORTANT NOTE – if you change the password and you are currently logged into the Control Panel as the directory administrator, you must close the Control Panel and re-open it by logging in with the new password.

To change the directory manager’s password from the Instance Manager command-line utility, you can use the following command:

<RLI_HOME>/bin/instancemanager -u -n vds_server -p 2389 -w <newpassword>

The -p option is required when updating the password.

Once you log in with the new password, please change the password for the LDAP data sources, vdsha, and replicationjournal.
